Before the tournament, I caught up with Vincent Chan, the winner of $10K Malaysia, to ask him a few questions.
Metagame: What deck have you decided on today, and why?
Vincent: Wild Pack, because it has a chance against everything.

Metagame: I've heard of this deck before, but I've never actually seen it in action. How does it work?
Vincent: Essentially, the objective is to reach the later turns where you can overpower your opponents with characters like
Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man and Professor X. You try to survive the early turns by team attacking with Wild Pack and Spider-Man. On defense, simply powering up your characters would give them reinforcement, due to the ability of
ESU Science Lab.
ESU Science Lab is the key card in this deck. Not only does it let you reinforce you characters, it also lets you draw additional cards to replenish your hand that would be depleted by the many off-curve drops you play every turn. If you draw
ESU Science Lab early, you should win the game.
Metagame: What are the favorable matchups for the deck?
Vincent: I think I've got a good chance against most of the field. If I draw the key cards, I will win. I'm not sure about the mirror, though, as no one in my playgroup has built another copy of the deck for me to test against.
Metagame: You won $10K Malaysia with X-Stall, but that was in the Golden Age format. What do you think of your chances in Marvel Modern Age?
Vincent: I think it's pretty good. I've practiced in league tournaments and made the top 8 in the only Marvel Modern Age PCQ I've played in.
Metagame: Were you playing Wild Pack in the PCQ?
Vincent: Yes.
Metagame: Thank you for sharing. Good luck today!
