In this round, we visit two more undefeated players. Shockingly, the matchup is once again Good Guys vs. Deep Green. I don’t pick feature matches very well . . . what can I say?
Billy won the die roll and selected the even initiatives. Both players mulliganed their openers. Stephen missed his 1-drop, and Billy followed suit. Billy recruited Talia, Beloved Betrayer on turn 2, and Steve under-dropped with Sue Dibny, who got Booster Gold. Talia smashed in, and that was the turn.
Things got back on track for Stephen on turn 3 with Shayera Thal ◊ Hawkwoman and an Nth Metal. Billy recruited Ahmed Samsarra in the concealed area, revealing an OMAC Robot in his resource row. Hawkwoman attacked Talia, and her ally power fetched an Nth Metal. Billy flipped up UN Building and then allowed the stun. Neither player had any more attacks, so Billy used Ahmed to replace his Robot with Rook Control. He flipped and used Brother Eye to bring back the Robot, and that was the turn. Stephen led, 47-45.
Billy played Merlyn behind Talia on turn 4. Stephen recruited Katar Hol ◊ Hawkman with Nth Metal. In combat, Billy flipped his Rook Control and a Brother I Satellite, fetching Sasha Bordeaux, Autonomous Prototype. Merlyn was exhausted to KO Hawkwoman, and Billy passed. Stephen attempted to send Hawkman into Merlyn, but Billy used Rook Control to stop the attack. Hawkman got Talia instead, and that was the end of combat. In recovery, Billy used Ahmed to replace Brother I Satellite with The Science Spire. Stephen still led, 47-37.
Turn 5 was Stephen’s initiative; he recruited Oliver Queen ◊ Green Arrow, Hard-Traveling Hero. Billy had Annihilation Protocol ◊ OMAC Robot behind Talia. In combat, Stephen used Kooey Kooey Kooey to fetch No Man Escapes the Manhunters. He played it on Merlyn, but was foiled by Huntress. Sue attacked Talia, and Stephen played Magnificent Seven to make her 4 ATK / 2 DEF. Billy used Ahmed to get Slaughter Swamp, and used that to return Mikado and Mosha. He discarded the 1-drop to stun Sue. Next, Katar Hol attacked Annihilation Protocol. Before the attack was legal, Billy used Meltdown to KO the Nth Metal equipped to Katar Hol. Stephen was brick-walled, and he conceded.
