In response, Klein chained Terra’s effect, trying to blow away the defender. Hoeh discarded a card to activate the Mark II’s negation effect, but the chain continued as Klein added a Savage Beatdown. |

Robin then jumped Boliver, but was surprised by Boliver’s ability to grow claws and the know-how to use them. Not So Fast negated the Nasty Surprise though, and Robin made off with Boliver’s clothes. You would, too, if your millionaire guardian forced you to wear red and green spandex for the better part of your childhood. |

Magneto gave Rautenbach reason to pause, and he did so, for quite a while. In fact, play ground to a halt for a few minutes while he decided what to do, counting the number of Sentinels in Klein’s KO’d pile, looking at his hand, looking at Klein’s hand, and looking back to Klein’s KO’d pile. Both men knew the game was over this turn . . . they just didn’t know how it was going to end. |

Maik Stich is 24. When asked what he does when not playing cards, he replied, “I do anything else? I’m involved in a lot of card games.” |

Nothing happened on turn 1, and it looked like turn 2 would be the same until Klein came out swinging with Tim Drake ◊ Robin, Young Detective. The Boy Wonder took a swing at Al-Bacha and was quickly joined by Dove and Hawk on the next turn. |

It takes a brave man (or a moron) to dedicate a great deal of time and effort to winning with Arkham Inmates. Because I’ve spent ages trying to pull at least a tier 1.5 deck out of the team, I’m going to chalk up the efforts of Arkham players to bravery. By that standard, Florian Beierstedt was the bravest competitor of all in Hannover. |

So far, Darkseid’s Elite hasn't seen their piece of the pie yet. Martin Stolz might change that. He ran a pure Darkseid’s Elite deck in Hannover. |

Two big decks came out of Pro Circuit LA, and the biggest of the pair was X-Stall. In most cases, the build of X-Stall played by Team TOGIT has probably been netdecked more than any other deck over the past two months, but it's undergone few changes in most cases. |

One of the things I love about traveling for reporting is seeing the little one-ofs and flavor cards that are unique to one area and barely seen anywhere else. Those play trends fascinate me because, well . . . because I’m easily amused. |

With decks like Phantom Phone Booth starting to make an impact on the tournament scene, many players are finally finding DSM-based decks that work for them. Always curious, I asked twenty people to name their favorite deck that uses cards from Man of Steel, and to explain their choices. The catch? Each player had only twenty seconds. |

With Vs. System gaining momentum in Germany and the nation’s metagame speeding along to catch up with play trends in North America and Britain, I thought it would be interesting to ask twenty random people at the Hanover $10K tournament what they felt were the top three decks in the current environment. |

The Hannover $10K metagame was very complete, with only a few decks missing from the wide spread of archetypes represented. However, a few key decks did not make a showing at the event, and it’s worth taking a look at the decks that weren’t played. |

Out of the 90 competitors at the event, here is how the metagame was split. |

Players have been toying with League of Assassins decks since the League hit the scene in DC Origins. However, with the release of The Demon’s Head and Merlyn, hopes have been high for a tier one League deck, and players continue to refine their decks and seek better builds. |
|
|
|
|
The deck’s base theory is simple. Take the raw stats and the ability to turn diminished utility into combat advantage of the Big Brotherhood deck, and combine it with the League’s ability to seek out locations. |
