The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 11: On The Bubble
Nate Price

With the first day coming to a close, there is much speculation about who will make the cut to Day 2. I had an opportunity this round to check in with two of the players you met earlier: Kyle Kreuger and Aaron Breider. Both of these players are on the bubble, needing to win to even have a chance at making Top 8.

Table 10 - Kyle Kreuger vs. Daryl Moses

Kyle ran into an unfortunate start for this game. Daryl was playing “Robots and Soliders,” and it was easy to see how the deck got its name. He ended up getting one of the best draws possible—he played three Soldiers of New Genesis by turn 2. Kyle’s draw wasn’t that bad, but Daryl’s guys were just bigger than his on every turn. On turn 4, Daryl had all of his guys still in play, whereas Kyle’s ranks were running thin. When Daryl flipped up a Phantom Zone to negate Kyle’s Dr. Light, Master of Holograms, the game was virtually over. Daryl ended up winning and knocking Kyle out of Top 8 contention.

Table 11 - Aaron Breider vs. Dana Taylor

Aaron’s draw was reminiscent of Daryl’s draw from the other game, and it was glorious to behold. He ended up getting the absolute perfect draw for his deck, with three Soldiers of New Genesis in the first two turns. On turn 5, Aaron’s deck just vomited Soldiers on the table. He used all four resource points to play Soldiers and, thanks to the Supercycle he played on turn 4, he rolled right over Dana’s team and took the game. We’ll know after standings go up whether or not he ended up making Top 8.
