The year 2006 should bring something new to the metagame, but before the metagame changes, let's examine what it looks like now. Do you know? Beginning with the Avengers set, the cogs started turning and set the evolving metagame into action. Currently, the metagame is mostly comprised of Flying Circus/Chicken Supreme, Common Enemy, Avengers, Faces/Moe Glee, New School, and Child decks, with Chicken Supreme and CE taking the biggest pieces of the pie. An interesting point to make is that even though Fantastic Fun has done really well, only one man (Dean Sohnle) has had any success with it. Does the fact that nobody can replicate Dean’s success make it the hardest deck to play in Vs. history?
Chicken Supreme has been dominating the scene completely as of late, not only making multiple Top 8s but also dominating the field in numbers. Common Enemy, the first deck ever to win a PC, was hiding in the purple shadow for a long time, but Re-vengers and Chicken Supreme have removed the purple stain and CE has once again moved to the forefront of the metagame. However, this was the metagame at the end of 2005; 2006 should bring the refreshing, evolving metagame that we saw at the end of 2005.
