The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Metagame Breakdown
Ryan O'Connor

After two rounds, the metagame seems to be shaping up similar to Pro Circuit Indy, but with one notable exception: Good Guys is no where near as well represented as many would have expected. Instead, a new king has stepped to the top of the pile—Checkmate / Villains United. About 41% of the field brought Ahmed Samsarra and Dr. Psycho, Mental Giant to the table today as their weapon of choice. Good Guys is behind it today with 20%, whereas the two were almost equally represented at Indianapolis. Shadowpact has jumped to third place, representing 13% of the field. Without further ado, here are all of the decks being played today:

Checkmate / Villains United: 41%
Good Guys: 20%
Shadowpact: 13%
Secret Society: 9%
Infestation: 4%
OMAC Robots: 4%
The Rock: 2%
Mono–Villains United: 2%
Mono-Checkmate: 2%
Other: 2%

Notably absent today is the Secret Society deck. With its barrage of control cards like Deadshot, Floyd Lawton; Crystal Frost ◊ Killer Frost; and Gorilla Grodd, the deck was the Cinderella story of the Pro Circuit, taking almost every member of the previously low-profile team who played it to Day 2. Why it is absent today is anyone’s guess, but many people think that it may be because everyone is playing cards to deal with that matchup specifically.

After two rounds, the top six tables (the players who are 2-0) are composed of the following twelve decks:

Checkmate / Villains United: 5
Good Guys: 3
Shadowpact: 2
Infestation: 1
The Rock: 1

Look for an update later today about which decks are rising to the top as we inch closer to the Top 8 and the first Mile High $10K Champion!
